World Thalassemia day on 8th may, is celebrated by rotary Club Garden Reach for awareness program at Vedanta College.

The principal, Kirti Singh along with President Rotarian Avinash Singh inaugurated the program. Rotarian Dr. B N Jha discussed the major global problem of Thalassemia and sensitizes the young graduate students about Thalassemia testing. Dr J. Chakraborty who is a hematologist, talked in details about the management of Thalassemia patients. Dr Minu Jha who is a consulting gynaecologist discussed about Thalassemia in pregnancy. Rtn Sweata Barua, Rtn P. Barua and Rtn A. Ahmed graced the program with their presence. A free screening test for Thalassemia was sponsored by Rotary Club Grc. 41 students underwent the test enthusiastically. They were also provided with the refreshment food packet by Rotary Club Grc. The program ended by a vote of thanks by Proff. Lopamudra Ganguly .
