On 18/05/23 (Thursday) Department of Bengali ,Vedanta College organised an excursion trip to Hali Sahor and Naihati. 23 students joined the trip under the supervision of four departmental teachers. .
Report of excursion On 18/05/23 (Thursday) Department of Bengali ,Vedanta College organised an excursion trip to Hali Sahor and Naihati. 23 students joined the trip under the supervision of four departmental teachers. The journey started from Sealdah railway station. At first, the student visited the homestead of one of the eminent poets of Mediaeval Bengal, Ramprasad Sen, popularly known as 'Ramprosad bhite'. Next the students went to Ramprasad Ghat where the Poet took his ultimate dip of life. Then to have a glimpse of the sixteenth century Vaishnava culture, the students visited Guru 'Ishwar Puri's homestead (Ishwar Purit Bhite) where Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu got initiation from the former. After that the Excursion party moved towards Nineteenth century thinker and novelist Shri Bankimchandra Chattopaddhyay's ancestral house. The students alongwith the museum authority celebrated MUSEUM DAY there. They were shown the rooms where Shri Chattopaddhyay was born and where the National Song 'Vande Mataram' was written. Contextually, the Curator of the Museum discussed with the visiting students various aspects of Nineteenth century literature, social life, nationalist movement so on and forth. Overall, the jaunt was a very successful and useful one. .
